Cottonwood Nature Trail & Walking Story Book

Visit our museum grounds and enjoy our Self-Guided Nature-History Trail free to the public!

Learn about native and non-native plants and trees, wildlife and the history of the William B Layton Park while taking in spectacular views of Lake Tahoe. In partnership with Friends of the Tahoe City Library, each Nature Trail station also features a passage from a “walking story book.” This outdoor experience is great for families to learn about nature while also reading a fun book courtesy of the local Tahoe City Library. The Nature Trail and “walking story book” is open May 1-October 31 each year.
